My career goals

My career goals are to become a very successful business woman in the field of e-commerce. By working hard, taking initiative and moving my way up the corporate ladder, or building my own business. I try to keep an open mind.

How I am preparing for this Career

I am preparing for my career by, going to College and taking the co-op e-commerce management program. By being successful in this program I will have the skills and the experience needed to enter the business world.

My Community Involvement

My community involvement; I played baseball for 16 years, at both a house league and rep level. Our team won several awards and Championships. I also won individual awards for most valuable player. In order to give back to the girl’s league I also umpired games for the younger divisions. When I was old enough I then began to coach the peewee level, teaching fundamentals. This allowed me to share my experiences as well as help the young girls build the skills needed to continually improve while playing the game.

My Educational Achievements

My educational achievements are; completing an out of school program called the Bronte Creek Project. http://www.brontecreekproject.org/
This program spanned a semester, and taught sixteen students not only the importance of team work but what our individual impact on the environment can be. In this program we were able to transfer this knowledge to younger students in elementary school, teaching them about their impact on the environment and how to work as a team to accomplish a task.
I have also completed a business co-op program at Northern group during my high school years, and with that I completed my 4 years at Bishop Reding earning my diploma. I then decided to go to college. I moved away from home for the first time. My parents bought a house in my college town and filled it with other students, so not only was I on my own for the first time, I was in charge of a house with six other students. My duties included, collecting rent, scheduling household duties and paying bills. I went on to complete that first year General Business at Fanshawe College with a 4.0 GPA.

Business Leaders I Admire

Rhonda Byrne- she wrote the book “the secret”
"As the creator, author, and producer of The Secret in both the book and feature-length film versions, Rhonda Byrne’s intention is to empower all others to live a life of joy."

Mary Kay Ash- She has created the cosmetics empire and empowering other women. (May 12 1915-2001)

I chose these two women because their goal was to empower other people. One chose to do it by teaching people networking skills, and the other teaches an empowerment attitude using visualization. Both are great examples of clever marketing and strong business acumen.

My personal Competitive Advantage

My personal competitive advantage is my outgoing personality, my ability to change and adapt to any situation, my ability to work well on a team as well as individually. I attribute these skills to the many years spent on teams, my own life experience running a household and watching as well as participating in both my parents businesses. During the summer between high school and college, I worked for my mothers Laser Hair Removal business as the receptionist/manager. http://www.glowgirlinc.com/
I quickly had to learn the process of laser hair removal in order to answer questions the clients had, as well as invoicing and scheduling of appointments and changing environments as we moved each day to a new salon. I found myself at eighteen managing a portable office, a technician and a salon owner. I again gained more life skills. I have been made team leader on many occasions’ during my part time work in fast food restaurants, and waitressing. These experiences have created strong leadership and team skills and provided a well rounded business experience.
